As you know, drain pipes are not always pristine. Over time, a buildup of detritus often causes issues like restriction of water flow and blockages. Up until fairly recently, the best way to handle these kinds of issues was with a device called a “drain snake.” Now, however, we have another option. Hydro jetting is one of the most popular methods around for cleaning out your drain pipes. Let’s examine how it works, and why it’s so popular.
Hydro jetting involves inserting a thin hose into your drain pipe, with a 360 degree sprayer attached to the end. A high-pressure stream of water is fired through the hose, allowing it to clean any waste buildup off of every surface of the pipe. This makes hydro jetting beneficial even when there isn’t any sort of clog present.
As previously mentioned, the most popular way to clean out drain pipes was with a drain snake. This was a long cord with an auger at the end of it, which would drill through any blockages in the pipe. Though this is still often used, the problem is that it is only really effective when there is already a blockage. The auger is not large enough to cover the entire pipe, and only take care of any waste blocking the center. By contrast, hydro jetting can be used to clean the pipes at any time, not just when there is a blockage. Hydro jetting is a great way to keep your drains from becoming clogged, as long as you have it done once every one or two years.
